Biography
My first book, A Timeshare, won the Omnidawn 1st/2nd Poetry Book Prize in 2015. I’m currently at work on a second collection, excerpts of which have appeared in Best American Nonrequired Reading 2019 and in recent issues of Chicago Review, Harper’s,The Iowa Review, The Paris Review, and The Yale Review. My writing has been supported by a Fulbright grant, a Stegner Fellowship, and residencies at Yaddo.
Since 2014, I’ve been working with the poet and novelist 黄梵 Huang Fan on Nanjing Night Song, the first collection of his poetry in English translation. Our project has been supported by a VSC/Luce Foundation Chinese Poetry & Translation Fellowship. Poems from the manuscript have appeared in Chicago Review, New American Writing, POETRY, and A Public Space.
Work with Students
I’ve advised undergraduate theses and projects in a variety of forms, including lyric essays, poetic sequences, and hybrid works combining critical and creative inquiry.
