Biography
Caroline Heller received her M.A. in English literature from Miami University of Ohio in 2013 and her B.A. from the same university in 2006. Before pursuing her M.A., she spent several years teaching English abroad and working for non-profit organizations. She has been a member of the poetry staff and also an associate editor for the Chicago Review. Her dissertation, “The Times of the Seasons,” explores the prevalence of seasons in eighteenth-century and Romantic literature and analyzes how their unique spatiotemporal frame aided readers in registering forms of life and climate on multi-scalar levels. With each chapter dedicated to a season—spring, summer, autumn, and winter respectively—the dissertation uses seasons not as subject matter, but as frames for examining concepts that seem either in and/or outside of lived experience.
